The Horror Honeys: Prepare to Raise a Little Hell at Texas Frightmare Weekend 2018

Prepare to Raise a Little Hell at Texas Frightmare Weekend 2018

Convention Coverage with Bella

For reasons more simple than sinister, I live in Texas; somewhere behind the pine curtain, where we don’t breed serial killers (unless the pollen count counts), and the only thing beloved more than God, guns, and Goobers is horror. As is evident by the Texas Frightmare Weekend: the southwest’s premier horror convention held in Dallas.

This year marks the 13th annual Texas Frightmare Weekend, and I dare say, the line-up of guests and events is as spooktacular as the years it’s been running. Even from its humble beginnings in Grapevine, Texas, TFW has been an unparalleled horror convention. Now, boasting thousands of annual attendees and some of the newest, biggest, and scariest names in horror, TFW brings more fear to the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex than its traffic.

Texas Frightmare Weekend raises a little hell in the deep south each year, and this year it seems even more soothingly appropriate with their latest confirmation of Clive Barker (Books of Blood, Nightbreed, Hellraiser). And Barker isn’t the only sight TFW has to show you. There will be much Cenobite celebrating with Simon Bamford (Butterball), Doug Bradley (Pinhead), Nicholas Vince (Chatterer), and Barbie Wilde (Female)! My body is ready.

On the heels of the latest Saw movie, Jigsaw, TFW has also put the pieces together for Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, and Shawnee Smith. Don’t worry, though, as we all know, the horror community is a kid friendly space and joining in the mysterious weekend will be Matthew Lillard (Scooby Doo, Scream) and Ron Pearlman (Hellboy, Pacific Rim). And you won’t want to miss the Chucky celebration with Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Christine Elise, Catherine Hicks, Kevin Yagher, and Alex Vincent… ok, maybe it’s not that kid-friendly.

In addition to the big name horror stars that we’ve all come to know, love, and fear, Texas Frightmare Weekend has rounded up some of the most affluent writers, directors, and stunt doubles in the genre including Honey favorite Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw 2-4, REPO, Devil’s Carnival), Claudio Fragasso and Rossella Drudi (Troll 2, Zombie 3), and Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th, Hatchet).

Obviously all of these killer horror icons won’t just be milling about. As is true with any convention, Texas Frightmare Weekend will have vendor booths, photo opportunities, autographing sessions, screenings, and panels for their horror-bound fiends to attend. There’s no schedule of events as of yet, but planning is underway and as more guests are announced there will be more for us horror hungry fans to consume.

All of this creepiness is happening the weekend of May 4th, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency, inside the DFW and I plan to be there with bells on… to warn me of approaching ghosts, goblins, and gore, obviously.
