This year, The Horror Honeys decided to take a pledge, rather than make a resolution there was zero chance of us keeping. Women in Film has launched the 52 Films by Women project, in which you take a pledge to watch just ONE film directed by a woman every week this year. Easy enough right? And since this is The Horror Honeys, we are going to guide you through the project, every week this year, with a featured horror film written or directed by a fierce female!
Take the pledge yourself here, and check out our next pick below!
|Director Rachel Talalay|
Ahhh, the slasher film. Where "The Final Something" is never really the final anything, and dead is usually just a state of mind. Such was the case for Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, which was meant to end the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, but obviously did no such thing. Director Rachel Talalay (still the only woman to have ever directed an NOES film), did what she could with a film that is inherently ridiculous, but has grown to be a cult favorite thanks to the nonsense involved in watching Freddy jump the shark. It may not be the best Freddy... but damn is it idiotic fun.
