This year, The Horror Honeys decided to take a pledge, rather than make a resolution there was zero chance of us keeping. Women in Film has launched the 52 Films by Women project, in which you take a pledge to watch just ONE film directed by a woman every week this year. Easy enough right? And since this is The Horror Honeys, we are going to guide you through the project, every week this year, with a featured horror film written or directed by a fierce female!
Take the pledge yourself here, and check out our next pick below!
|Director Katt Shea on the set of Poison Ivy|
The 90s were amazing time to be a Lolita in training. While The Crush is better known thanks to Alicia Silverstone and her epic seduction of Cary Elwes, Poison Ivy is a solid addition to the canon. Directed by Katt Shea (The Rage: Carrie 2) and based on a story by Melissa Goddard, Poison Ivy benefits from a female presence behind the camera, in that it's a little more sensitive toward Ivy's (Drew Barrymore) motivations. Is Poison Ivy the best movie? Nope. But it's a hell of a lot of fun, and it never gets old.
Watch Poison Ivy this week and tweet us
