I won't lie to you, darling friends. I am not a fan of American Psycho. I get the appeal, and appreciate the message, but the book was more than enough for me. I never needed to see Patrick Bateman's insanity brought to life. That being said, when I did finally watch the film, it moved Christian Bale out of my childhood impressions of him (Newsies, Empire of the Sun) to a more adult one (abbbbbbbbbbbbs).
So imagine my intense pleasure when current "It Girl" Margot Robbie recreated the infamous morning routine scene for her Vogue shoot, and somehow made me imagine a version of American Psycho I could watch with abandon.
Directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, Robbie's (Suicide Squad, Focus) role in this short film/commercial perfectly captures the spirit and tone of the American Psycho scene, and updates it pretty brilliantly to cater to the modern obsession with beauty.
And Hamilton. Because obviously.
I don't know about you, but I'd sign on for an American Psycho remake that cast a woman in the Bateman role (yes, I know about the sequel. And if you keep reminding me about it, how will I forget?)
