News from Cannes
Critically acclaimed when it ran the festival circuit as a short, The Giant follows:
17-year-old Charlotte, whose mother has just committed suicide and whose boyfriend suddenly disappears, as she spends her last summer in her hometown with her friends before going to college. While Charlotte tries to go on with her life in spite of her trauma, a mythic killer emerges in her town, preying on girls with an uncanny resemblance to her, drawing the summer into a hallucinatory and nightmarish conclusion.
Some are already comparing The Giant to last year's surprise hit, It Follows, but personally, based on the trailer below, I'm actually interested to see how this film plays out. The Giant will be shooting on 35mm film (excite face) on location in Georgia at the end of the summer.
