This year, The Horror Honeys decided to take a pledge, rather that make a resolution there was zero chance of us keeping. Women in Film has launched the 52 Films by Women project, in which you take a pledge to watch just ONE film directed by a woman every week this year. Easy enough right? And since this is The Horror Honeys, we are going to guide through the project, every week this year, with a featured horror film written or directed by a fierce female!
Take the pledge yourself here, and check out our next pick below!
Writer/director Marjane Satrapi is probably best known for her autobiographical graphic novel Persepolis, which depicted her childhood in Iran during the Islamic revolution. But Satrapi has also directed one of the best horror films to come out in the last ten years, The Voices. Starring Ryan Reynolds as a factory worker whose pets seemingly talk to him, and assist him through what ends up being a disastrous encounter with his female co-worker. The Voices is dark, funny, twisted, and benefits greatly from the direction of a woman with a writer's eye for details, rendering it a future cult classic in the making.
The Voices is available via Amazon Prime, iTunes, Hulu, YouTube VOD, Vudu, Google Play, & DVD
