The Horror Honeys: #52FilmsByWomen with The Horror Honeys ~ Week 4!

#52FilmsByWomen with The Horror Honeys ~ Week 4!

This year, The Horror Honeys decided to take a pledge, rather that make a resolution there was zero chance of us keeping. Women in Film has launched the 52 Films by Women project, in which you take a pledge to watch just ONE film directed by a woman every week this year. Easy enough right? And since this is The Horror Honeys, we are going to guide through the project, every week this year, with a featured horror film written or directed by a fierce female!

Take the pledge yourself here, and check out our next pick below!

The work of Bret Easton Ellis is notoriously hard to adapt in to film form. While Less Than Zero and The Rules of Attraction were good films, but it took director Mary Harron to make American Psycho a great film. Harron and actress/writer/director Guinevere Turner adapted the screenplay for Ellis' novel, so the next time you watch American Psycho, keep this in mind: women are entirely responsible for bringing that movie into your living room.

We can't let you go this week without filling you in on a little exciting news regarding the team behind American Psycho: it was announced this week that Harron and Turner are teaming up yet again for The Family, a film based on the memoir of Karlene Faith, a graduate student in psychology who worked with three of the women who were convicted of murder as part of the Manson Family! We don't know about you, but the Honeys are stoked to see what kind of spin Mary Harron and Guinevere Turner can put on this story!
