The Horror Honeys: Vampire Sunday Jam ~ 'Paint it Black'

Vampire Sunday Jam ~ 'Paint it Black'

I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door I must have it painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comes

I don't know what YOU were doing in the early 90s, but this Horror Honey was a certified punker, well... on the inside anyway. I discovered Gob by accident while listening to a Seattle radio station, which was kind of silly because the boys from Gob were from a town just up the road from me that is known more for their livestock and modest housing prices than a neo-punk revival wave. As one of my favorite cover songs, "Paint it Black" easily stacks up beside the original, and you can still catch me thrashing along to it in the car. This song was also featured in Stir of Echoes, but it's here tonight because of its appearance in the woefully awful 2004 TV movie remake of Salem's Lot. Happy #VampireMonth fangbangers! ~HH
