Honey Buzz ~ The New X-Files Promos are STELLAR!

The truth is STILL out there.

In case you didn’t hear the resounding chorus of a million X-Philes squeeing with delight yesterday, let me fill you in: the Fox network debuted two trailers for next year’s new season of The X-Files during last night’s broadcasts of Gotham and Minority Report – and it looks SO good, the countdown to the show’s January 24th 2016 premiere just got more agonizing.

When last we saw Mulder and Scully together, it was in the critically mixed The X-Files: I Want to Believe movie, set six years after the original series finale and four years before the impending alien colonization of Earth that was set to take place on December 22, 2012. This newest sneak peek at what’s in store for next year’s six-episode event seems to resume the series’ conspiracy storyline that was mostly eschewed in the last feature film, and appears to address some of the unanswered questions from the 2002 finale. Fans are treated to some familiar images: the ‘I Want to Believe’ poster in disrepair; a well-known hand grasping a Morley cigarette; and everybody’s favorite FBI Assistant Director sporting some salt-and-pepper facial hair. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson (aka Bride of Hannibal) have had consistent work over the past decade and look better than ever – though Mulder looks a little worse-for-wear in these promos, but that’s what years of self-imposed exile embroiled in exposing underhanded governmental dealings with extraterrestrials will do to you.

Accompanying these images are a chill-inducing voiceover from our beloved ‘Spooky’ Special Agent, bringing us up to speed on the last 13 years: “in 2002, our investigation ceased… but my personal obsession did not.” Neither did ours, Mulder. Neither did ours.
