The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ Trailer and poster for SHARKTOPUS VS WHALEWOLF

Honey Buzz ~ Trailer and poster for SHARKTOPUS VS WHALEWOLF

Holy shit.

Let's start with the basics.
A few summers ago, SyFy unleashed Sharktopus. The half shark, half octopus with a heart of gold (?) was created by Eric Roberts and he just wanted to... well, in the first one he just wanted to eat people in highly entertaining ways. In Sharktopus vs Pteracuda, Sharktopus is suddenly like Godzilla  - defending those that were once his prey against a half Pterodactyl half Barracuda creature made by Robert Carradine... why? I have no idea, but Conan O'Brien died and that made my heart happy.

NOW, Sharktopus returns to again defend his prey and Casper Van Dien's FINE ass from Whalewolf. A mutated half whale half wolf maybe some human thrown in abomination made by a mad scientist who is actually 36 kinds of fabulous.

I've lightened up a LOT since Sharktopus and Sharktopus vs Pteracuda came out (no, really)... but only out of necessity, because this is what we've come to expect from the abomination factory that is SyFy.

What's in the trailer? WELL, I'm SO glad you asked.
Everything is in the trailer.
Aside from the revelation that Sharktopus is on twitter (it's true), the motivation for the main characters (hunt Sharktopus and bring back it's heart) is revealed, as is the creation process of the main villain. We have a vampy nurse, a hapless seaside town, and some of the "so spectacularly BAD they've become a trademark" CGI renderings of the SyFy network - let's be clear, I don't think this should be a point of pride. I'm sad to say that this trailer doesn't come equipped with any of the LOL-deaths that the vs Pteracuda sequel did, but I did get a genuine laugh out of Casper Van Dien, what can I say, the guy has B-movie chops like NO ONE else.

Point of interest: Every time the villain hybrids two creatures that should otherwise NEVER be spliced, they always manage to somehow get the best attributes of the animals to mix. Then again, it wouldn't be much of a movie with the back end of a Great White and front end of a Giant Squid now would it? Or two head ends. LOLOLOL I digress.

Thankfully, Sharktopus KNOWS that it's awful, and it's embracing that campy shit to the max.

I love you Roger Corman, I love you a lot.

I also love to hate to love these movies.
It's finally happened. I'm part of the problem.

Sharktopus vs Whalewolf premieres on SyFy on July 19th
