The Horror Honeys: Spooky Kids Saturday Jam ~ 'Comin' Home Baby'

Spooky Kids Saturday Jam ~ 'Comin' Home Baby'

I'm comin' home, baby now

I'm comin' home now, right away

I'm comin' home, baby now

I'm sorry now I ever went away

Do-do-do-doo, I miss you

Every night and day, I'm gone stay…

In 1999, Disney and Pixar were only a few years in to their initial partnership, and a few years away from truly crafting children's films that appealed to both kids and their parents. But that year, another animated film was created by future Pixar genius Brad Bird: The Iron Giant, based on a book by Ted Hughes. The Iron Giant introduced audiences to young Hogarth Hughes, a little boy who makes friends with a giant alien robot in 1957. The movie was filled with history, magic, love, and just enough tension to make The Iron Giant a treat for everyone who saw it. One of my favorite elements of the movie was the 50s soundtrack, including this classic from Mel Torme.

If you haven't seen The Iron Giant, or it's been a decade, it's time to revisit it. You'll be glad you did. ~RH
