The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ Natalie Portman May Star in Alex Garland's Next Film!

Honey Buzz ~ Natalie Portman May Star in Alex Garland's Next Film!

Actress Natalie Portman is no stranger to the world of sci-fi. The Star Wars prequels (grumble), Mars Attacks, Thor if you squish together mythology and science-fiction... yes; Portman has starred in more than her share of films set in the world of the fantastic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Portman may be in talks to jump in to ANOTHER sci-fi trilogy, but this one?

This one, your Revenge Honey is actually ecstatic about.

Jeff VanderMeer's Annihilation, the first book in a trilogy, follows a a biologist (unnamed in the book) as she searches for her lost husband in an isolated territory know as Area X. Area X is home to mysterious diseases, a deadly monster, and some sort of unexplained being known as the Crawler, any of which could be responsible for the woman's missing husband. The first bit of exciting news here is that Alex Garland, the mind behind new Honey favorite Ex Machina, has already adapted Annihilation into script form and been tapped to direct the film by Paramount. After witnessing Garland's skills behind the camera, I can't think of anyone better to helm this strange series.

Further, the idea of Portman as the lead of Annihilation is fairly brilliant. She has already cut her teeth on post-apocalyptic cinema with her work on V for Vendetta, so she has the gumption and stamina needed to withstand a likely grueling shoot. But even better, Portman is a brilliant badass that could absolutely fill the shoes of a biologist. Now that THR has put this idea in my head, I'm not sure I will be happy with anyone else in the role.
