The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ A George A Romero TV Show? Yes please!

Honey Buzz ~ A George A Romero TV Show? Yes please!

Adaptations of graphic novels and comics being adapted for TV are approaching their own version of a Renaissance these days. With series success in the superhero (Arrow, The Flash, DareDevil) and in the horror world (The Walking Dead OBVS, iZombie) it comes as no surprise that another comic book based series would grab some early funding from Cannes (of all places).

A 15 book series from 2014 and released by Marvel in three "Acts" entitled Empire of the Dead has been picked up by Demarest at the Cannes Film Festival and is on track to be made into the TV series. Demarest is the same production company that funded Kevin Smith's TUSK (and his other forthcoming Canuxploitation projects that I'll probably loathe as well). The only reason I bring this up, is that clearly they're willing to spend the dough to let creators do what they want, and I fully support that, regardless of the outcome. Plus, you can't knock that Marvel tag...

Empire of the Dead is Romero's second comic series, and while it features zombies that are similar to the ones in his films, there are also some othert undead creatures added to the mix - vampires. While my personal limit on vampires has been reached, there's no denying the fact that the bloodsuckers are popular as hell. The series will be written by Romero and longtime partner Peter Grunwald, and will be executive produced by Romero and Grunwald. It's obviously too early to think about directors, but my fingers are obviously crossed that Romero will direct the inaugural episode. But George, if you're reading this, I suggest you chat with Greg Nicotero... Juuust putting that out there.

Verdict? Oh hell yes please. We'll definitely be keeping a rotted eyeball out for more on this bit of Honey Buzz.

I would also like a zombie attack pet.
