The Horror Honeys: Horror TV Jam ~ 'Someone to Watch Over Me'

Horror TV Jam ~ 'Someone to Watch Over Me'

Although he may not be the man some
Girls think of as handsome
To my heart he carries the key
Won't you tell him please to put on some speed
Follow my lead, oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me

Fringe is one of those science fiction shows that proves, like Lost and Heroes, it's hard to sustain the momentum of a really solid concept when you don't have a course charted from the start. However, JJ Abrams' stab an X-Files-type story had its share of wonderful and eerie moments. One of my favorite quieter scenes on the show occurred in Season 1, Episode 3, as Peter (Joshua Jackson) played Gershwin classic "Someone to Watch Over Me" to Olivia (Anna Torv) on the piano. While we'd later have to deal with Fauxlivia and Walternate and other parallel universe nonsense, this early moment is a nice reminder of a time when things were still simple. JJ Abrams simple, mind you. But simple none-the-less. ~RH
