The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ WHY DAVID??? WHYYYYYY?

Honey Buzz ~ WHY DAVID??? WHYYYYYY?

There has been no shortage of excitement in Honey HQ about the 2016 return of David Lynch's surrealist television masterpiece, Twin Peaks. For one thing, Lynch was coming back on board to correct all of the errors made in the second season in his absence. Second, the final season of Twin Peaks and the film, Fire Walk with Me, never felt like the satisfying conclusion these complex characters needed or deserved. So when it was announced that Showtime would be bringing the show back, with the original cast AND Lynch at the helm, it was the news coffee-lovers had been waiting decades for.

Except... David Lynch isn't coming back now. And this latest twist in the saga that is Twin Peaks is actually a little too much for even Lynch fans to bear.

David Lynch took to Twitter this past weekend to announce that he was walking away from Twin Peaks 2016 in true semantically cryptic Lynchian style.

Now, most people have taken this to mean that Lynch HIMSELF wasn't being paid enough by Showtime to write the script for Twin Peaks. My first thought was that Showtime wasn't allowing the SHOW enough of a proper budget to do things right the second time around. David Lynch has coffee money... I find it very hard to believe he would walk away from a project like this because he wasn't being paid enough to write the script alone.

You better girl. You better.
Showtime went on to release a statement to the Hollywood Reporter in regards to Lynch's Twitter post:

"We were saddened to read David Lynch's statement today, since we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points. Showtime also loves the world of Twin Peaks, and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm."

Whatever the reason for Lynch's departure, I don't believe for a second that the saga of Twin Peaks 2016 has come to an end...

What do you think, kids? Is there any way this will work without Lynch? Is he REALLY gone? Let me know what you think on Twitter! ~ The Revenge Honey
