The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ Trailer for THE GALLOWS

Honey Buzz ~ Trailer for THE GALLOWS

As the Honey who ends up writing the majority of the news stories that appear on our site, I feel like I'm hard pressed to find notes of positivity amidst the avalanche of remakes, reboots and general fuckery that horror fans are forced to endure over the course of any given week.

What Fresh Hell is this do you ask? The trailer for a brand new Blumhouse joint: The Gallows

The story: Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy—but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone.
Can you tell what this is? Me either.
I'm going to guess gummi worms.

What is it/What it looks like:
- Found Footage
- Teenagers
- Lots of crying and closeups
- Predator vision filming so you can't really see the SPFX work
- The appropriation of a classic 80s revenge slasher film format "made new" but not really
- Stage Fright but not fun or entertaining

Pictured: Me... kind of all the time lately.
First things first, I'm aware that the majority of the "new generation of horror fans" can't be bothered to watch anything made before 1994 unless they're shamed into it, but at some point, I hope that everyone in this category gets REALLY tired of being treated like they're fucking stupid and take back the genre, because no one's listening to us old farts anymore.

The Gallows comes to theatres July 10th, 2015.
Hooray for Summer Horror.
