The Horror Honeys: SXSW Trailer: TURBO KID

SXSW Trailer: TURBO KID

Let's be real about a few things, here. There are a few ways to get my movie crank turned... post-apocalyptic settings, Canadian content that isn't ridiculously insulting (see my bitchy review of Tusk's Canuxploitation here), the 90s, survival of the fittest, and Kiwi aesthetic.

In no particular order, Turbo Kid has my fucking attention.

The story: In a post-apocalyptic future a young solitary scavenger obsessed with comic books must face his fears and become a reluctant hero when he meets a mysterious girl. From horror masterminds (which here means producers) Ant Timpson (The ABCs Of Death 1 & 2, Housebound) and Jason Eisener (Hobo With A Shotgun).

Co-directed and co-written by Fran├žois Simard, Anouk Whissell, Yoann-Karl Whissell - the trio have previously produced several short films including T is for Turbo, an entry into the ABC's of Death 26th director competition in 2011, and the basis for their debut feature.

Not going to lie. I'm excited as fuck about this film, and you should be too.
