The Horror Honeys: Sci-Friday Jam ~ 'The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins'

Sci-Friday Jam ~ 'The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins'

In the middle of the earth, in the land of the Shire
There's a brave little hobbit whom we all admire
With his long wooden pipe, fuzzy woolly toes
Lives in a hobbit-hole and everybody knows him.
Bilbo, Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
Only three feet tall,
Bilbo, Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
The bravest little hobbit of them all

Last week, the Horror Honeys engaged in a collective day of mourning for one of the most enduring faces in science-fiction history. Leonard Nimoy, known to most as Doctor Spock from Star Trek, but enjoyed by many of us in other projects like Fringe and the original Mission: Impossible series, passed away at the age of 83, i.e. far too young. A professional, a scholar, and a kind soul, Nimoy was never too busy to chat with his legions of fans, and was beloved to them because of this. Nimoy was a poet, an animal lover, and a true family man until his final days. The only solace we have is that he has left behind decades worth of indelible work to which we can return time and time again. While today's Honey Jam was viewed by many as a goofy novelty song, it's just further proof that Nimoy was both an adorable nerd and a great sport. Gone, but never forgotten and with any luck... just waiting for us to find him on the Genesis planet.

Leonard Nimoy ~ 3/26/1931 - 2/27/2015
"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP" ~ Nimoy's last tweet
