Honey Buzz: Winding Refn's 'Neon Demon' Has Historical Inspiration!

Many of the Honeys are huge fans of Nicholas Winding Refn, so obviously we were excited when we heard he was helming his first real horror film. Yet, the plot for The Neon Demon was kept under wraps, outside the fact it had a young, female-driven cast. But now Liv Corfixen, Winding Refn's co-writer and wife, has revealed some supremely tantalizing facts about the inspiration for the film, so color us intrigued!

According to Corfixen, The Neon Demon is taking its queues from a host of real world inspiration, from religion to the Blood Countess herself, Elizabeth Bathory. Multiple horror films have already used Bathory as a villain, including Chastity Bites, Stay Alive, Countess Dracula, and Fright Night 2: New Blood (2013). But with a Hollywood backdrop and Elle Fanning starring, The Neon Demon stands to set itself apart in both style and NWR brutality. And when a film describes itself as Alive meets Drop Dead Gorgeous, I think we're in for a treat.
