The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ TWD Companion show news!

Honey Buzz ~ TWD Companion show news!

There's been a LOT of kafuffle surrounding first the announcement of a spinoff or "companion" series to AMC's runaway blockbuster The Walking Dead. This new series takes place before the outbreak, so there are no comics to fall back on for timelines or action. Set in LA (sorry... that's where they lost me) the storyline is said to follow more of a family drama style narrative.

I had some issues a few months ago with early casting announcements, but there are many who are fully on board. I salute your optimism, people.

Something that slipped under my radar, but actually makes me even LESS interested in the new series is the title, which is currently Fear the Walking Dead.

What the fuck happened to calling it Cobalt? That was at least a little badass and less of a dishwater colored reminder of where the series came from.

"Just in case you forgot this series is totally tied in with TWD." I hope that's the tagline.

AMC has also announced that the original six episode series plan will get an additional five episodes, and has also been green lit for a second season.

Starring Kim Dickens (House of Cards) and Cliff Curtis (Gang Related), the show is expected to air on AMC this summer. Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) will also star as the main character focus teenagers, who I'm sure will annoy the shit out of me.

In the press release announcing the two-season order, Kirkman had some nice things to say about AMC’s investment in the spinoff (which isn't actually surprising at all; Kirkman has made AMC a LOT of money in the last few years).
“We feel empowered by this two-season commitment, a serious show of faith from our network partner AMC. I personally take it as a sign that they believe, like we do, that we’ve accomplished our goal of developing something original that can pay tribute to the original show and expand the world I created while at the same time having something new to say with this story.”
Here are some equally lacklustre official stills from the pilot episode. Everyone's clean. So exciting.

Ooo... tension.

Ermagherd... a berdhy.
Fear the Walking Dead will debut this summer - hopefully later than Hannibal, because if I have to choose, I'm watching Hannibal. Just sayin.
