The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ Casting Leatherface

Honey Buzz ~ Casting Leatherface

Back in November, it was announced that French horror directing duo, Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo would be taking the lead on a refresh of the The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series with Leatherface - and the Revenge Honey was officially intrigued.

I was personally interested in who would be cast to play the teenage Leatherface, because the fate of the film obviously rests heavily on the shoulders of whoever takes the role. Color me officially in limbo on the casting of British TV actor Sam Strike in this pivotal role. I stress the TV part of that statement, because it's literally all he's done. Am I passing judgement? Maybe a little.

The film is expected to serve as an origin story that follows Leatherface’s early years in the 1970s. Strike is nearing a deal to play Jackson, the teenager who grows up to be Leatherface.
You all know that I'm a sucker for prequels, so I've been following the development of Leatherface as it's been progressing. A film about the abuse, degradation, and suffering that a young Leatherface would have endured is exactly what directors Maury and Bustillo are the masters of, but seeing how they mould this very young and untested actor into the chainsaw wielding cannibal we all know and love could be very very interesting, or could be a complete waste of their talent and unique aesthetic. I'm officially on the fence with Leatherface.
