The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ HOUSEBOUND is getting a remake

Honey Buzz ~ HOUSEBOUND is getting a remake

So... Kiwi horor comedy Housebound (Reviewed HERE by our Supernatural Honey) has been out for a grand total of four months is heading for a remake.

I'm sorry. Let me type that again. It's been out for FOUR MONTHS. FOUR FUCKING MONTHS.

Not content to let an overseas genre film succeed on its own merits, New Line has picked up the remake rights to this adorable supernatural comedy thriller. Being touted as a positive thing, Peter Jackson is the brilliant voice behind this remake road because the original film "didn't get the distribution it deserved."

Now I'm starting to get mad.

THR says that original writer/director Gerard Johnstone will act as producer for the remake, but that another director will actually take over the new film. The studio is also reportedly looking for a writer for the new script - y'know, to make it more 'Murican, but not like Poltergeist or Amityville Horror or any other haunted house movie or anything that's been coming out like gangbusters lately... no no, totally original.

I didn't anticipate that I would be so goddamn angry about this, but I am. Hey, New Line... I have an idea, if you like Housebound so fucking much, why don't you just re-release it and re-distribute it? WHY IS THAT SO FUCKING HARD. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE RE-MADE AND RE-WRITTEN???

ok... breathing.

Housebound in all its original Kiwi-tastic glory is available via VOD and Amazon platforms... how about you just go and see that and support indie film, the way it should be.

Fuck you New Line.
