The Horror Honeys: Revenge Wednesday Jam ~ 'Daughters'

Revenge Wednesday Jam ~ 'Daughters'

Daughter, please
It's me
Tell me what you've seen
Daughter, please
Spare me
Old men's voices screaming
And soon we'll see
What you really mean
All the pretty children sharpening their blades
Where my daughter passes only ruins remain

Wild Beasts, an indie rock band from England, is one of those fabulous throwback New Wave-esque groups that writes practically indecipherable lyrics. Each of their songs approaches that complex experimental art rock sound from a different angle, so every track is akin to taking a brand new journey. Out of all of their songs, however, "Daughters" is my favorite, both for its revenge-themed lyrics and subtext so thick, you could practically slather butter on it. If you don't know Wild Beasts, now is the time to learn. Let 'em know the Revenge Honey sent you. ~RH
