The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ FX's American Crime begins Casting

Honey Buzz ~ FX's American Crime begins Casting

There will be a crap ton of casting reports coming out of Hollywood as the new TV season draws closer. During the summer I had a bit of a flail attack about FX's announcement about pushing forward with a true crime based series called American Crime, which like it's sister show American Horror Story, will be a multi-season, multi-focus/topic show. The reason for my freak out? Out of ALL the crimes in America committed EVERY FUCKING DAY, they inaugural season will be based on the O.J. Simpson case.

But, because Hollywood has no shame when it comes to the "too soon" rule usually relegated to the Lifetime network, casting for the series has begun in earnest. THR reports that Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and American Horror Story's Sarah Paulson will be playing the leading roles of O.J. Simpson and Marcia Clark.

American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson— the first season of the anthology from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk — is based on Jeffrey Toobin's best-selling book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

These are THR's words, not mine. Mine include more swearing:
The 10-episode first season examines the O.J. Simpson trial as told from the perspective of the lawyers, and is poised to explore the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court. More significantly, it will display how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.
I seriously can't be the only one who would much rather that Ryan Murphy turn his focus to something that isn't coming to us pre-sensationalized? Maybe choose a crime where everyone involved is already dead?? How about Bonnie and Clyde, or H.H. Holmes, Caril Fugate and Carl Starkweather? Come ON.
