The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ The Saga of Ridley Scott

Honey Buzz ~ The Saga of Ridley Scott

Will the insults NEVER cease? Interviews with Ridley Scott are getting more and more upsetting as time goes on and hype for his pre-production/on the horizon projects starts to get hotter. While doing press rounds for his newest in a long line of whitewashed Biblical epics, Exodus, Sir Scott has been dropping some of the most annoyingly dismissive quotes I've seen in a LONG time...

Speaking frankly about Prometheus 2, Sir Ridley has already been up front with that fact that he's going to be shying away from the aliens that kind of made him famous

According to Scott, Prometheus 2 will be: “getting away from gods and dragons and shit. If I see one more dragon I’m going to shoot myself. Stop the dragons.”

Pardon?
Wait...I'm sorry. Did you just call the Queen Xenomorph a dragon?

This is a fucking Xenomorph

This is a fucking dragon.

Scott says. “So with Prometheus 2 what I’m trying to do is reintroduce a fresher form of alien in the third act.” The Prometheus “baby” alien was, he concedes, “awfully close to the alien” that tormented Sigourney Weaver. But Scott is clearly over that dragon shit.

Last month, Noomi Rapace had ZERO idea what was in store for Prometheus 2, but everyone seemed to think that her ramblingly half-hearted guess of "God, or the Devil" was newsworthy...I fucking didn't, the chick has NO idea what's going on

According to the source article, "...from Scott's statements today it seems God(s) won't be the focus, but something equally as terrifying, and something all audiences can grapple onto and be fearful of regardless of religious background and beliefs." This also sounds like abject bullshit, and I had to fix a few typos.

With the way Ridley Scott's film projects have been leaning in the last little while, my tenuous grip on the hope that I would be excited for Prometheus 2 is slowly slipping away as it's becoming clear that not only does Ridley Scott have no idea what his first film was about, but that we may have lost a great sci-fi auteur to personal demons. I might be inflating this way out of proportion, but perhaps I'm not. What set this all off? Was the death of HR Giger a discerning factor in the deterioration of Scott's respect for his past work? What will Prometheus 2 be without Giger's creepy influence and atmospheric handiwork? Too many questions.

Filming for Prometheus 2 is rumored to begin in late 2015, with a projected release date of early March, 2016. Michael Fassbender will be reprising his role as David's disembodied head, and Noomi Rapace will also be back to annoy me.
