Honey Buzz ~ Watch the Trailer for SyFy's '12 Monkeys'

"Remember, Mr Cole, everyone you see is dead..."

I'm a big fan of 12 Monkeys, I'm also aware that I'm in a bit of a minority, it's a cult sci-fi thriller that's not particularly popular (some people just don't get Terry Gilliam), but it features some incredible actors in some interesting roles. It's my favorite Brad Pitt performance too, and I don't dole those out lightly. For those unfamiliar, 12 Monkeys follows James Cole (Bruce Willis), an emotionally disturbed inmate from a grim, post-apoclayptic future that is plagued with a mystery disease. Cole is sent back in time to identify the parties responsible for plunging the world into its dystopian future state. Cole's time travel is a condition of his parole...travel back in time on a sketchy system that may or may not work and isn't entirely accurate...and receive a lighter prison sentence. Seems legit, right?

Now, when I heard that SyFy had gotten its claws into 12 Monkeys for a TV series, I was so goddamn nervous, I don't give SyFy a lot of credit for originality or anything resembling actual entertainment value. However...I might be intrigued now. SyFy's adaptation stars Aaron Stanford (Pyro in X-Men: The Last Stand) as Cole, Amanda Schull (Suits) as Dr. Railly and Kirk Acevedo (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) as an apparent friend of Cole’s. From the trailer, Cole looks to be a volunteer this time around, so I'm guessing they've updated the time travel mechanism...and was evidently sent back in time by Railly herself. Cole also seems far more mentally stable (a far cry from Willis' frantic prisoner), needs a haircut in a BAD way, and also has a larger mission - locating Leland Frost (Zeljko Ivanek of True Blood). Sooo color me cautiously optimistic at this point, but still nervous as a cat in a room for of rocking chairs and a TV stuck on the SyFy channel.

12 Monkeys premieres on SyFy in January of 2015.
