The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ WATCH trailer for LATE PHASES

Honey Buzz ~ WATCH trailer for LATE PHASES

Werewolf movies are a difficult genre to tackle, made difficult not for the storyline, or motive, but by the nature of their main antagonist, the werebeast itself. How to approach the transformation, the look of the creature, and the awful comparisons that inevitably arise to some of the greatest werewolf transformations of all time, and some of the most epic fails of the genre - and there are many.

Late Phases dropped their new poster this week, and now we have a trailer! Indie werewolf movie nervousness aside, I like the looks of Late Phases, and their beastie, which has shades of Dog Soldiers about it.

Crescent Bay is not the ideal place to spend one's golden years, especially since the once-idyllic retirement community has been beset by a series of deadly animal attacks from the ominous forest surrounding it. When grizzled war veteran Ambrose McKinley (Nick Damici) is forced into moving there by his yuppie son Will (Ethan Embry), the residents immediately take offense to Ambrose's abrasive personality.  But that take-no-prisoners attitude may be just what Ambrose needs to survive as it becomes clear that the attacks are being caused by creatures that are neither animal nor man, and that the tight-knit community of Crescent Bay is hiding something truly sinister in its midst...

Late Phases has its Canadian premiere this past weekend at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, and while there is no word yet on DVD or VOD dates, It will hit limited theatres on November 21st. Since the "limited theatres" stuff is annoyingly vague, there will hopefully be some concrete release information after Late Phases finishes making the Fall festival rounds.
