Honey Buzz ~ I Am Legend Getting Reboot, Not a Sequel...

What a coincidence! I was making the same face through the whole movie!

Apparently, there had been talk for a while about a sequel to I Am Legend, but the only thing holding it up was Will Smith and his desire to not be fat and old on camera. Frankly, I didn't know a thing about the supposed sequel because I thought I am Legend was a joke. Besides turning a classic book into a Christian propaganda film, it didn't seem to understand the basic premise of its own title. Because in a Will Smith movie, Big Willie has to take down vamps like a MOTHERFUCKING ACTION HERO!

But I digress...

According to Deadline, it looks like Warner Brothers has decided to move ahead without Smith and go the reboot route, instead of filming an I Am Legend sequel. Which actually would have been a prequel anyway? Sigh. Whatever. WB bought Gary Graham's script for A Garden at the End of the World after he posted it on Black List while he was working at the Apple Store. Now Graham is re-writing his script, described as a sci-fi version of John Wayne's The Searchers, as a reboot of I Am Legend.

On one hand, I'm actually interested to see if a new version of this film understands the context of the book. But I'm also not sure I care enough to sit another film version of a novel that is already pretty much perfect.

What do YOU think about another planned reboot of a recent film?
