Honey Buzz ~ Chris Hemsworth Takes On Inspiration for Moby Dick...

When it comes to films about whaling ships, I have always been of the camp rooting for the whale (Orca, for example). But after watching the trailer for Ron Howard's 2015 release, In the Heart of the Sea, I'm actually intrigued by more than just animal revenge. This true story, which inspired Herman Melville's Moby Dick, looks to be a gorgeous combination of human drama, terror, stunning effects, and Chris Hemsworth...

Based on Nathaniel Philbrick's In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex, Howard's film retells the story of a group of whalers whose ship sank after they were attacked by a sperm whale in the Pacific in 1820. Stranded in the vast ocean with nothing but their whaleboats, the crew of the Essex floated toward South America and remained lost for three months. By the time they were rescued in February of 1821, most of the crew had died from dehydration and starvation. The book is based on the first-hand accounts of the first mate, as well as a teenaged cabin boy.

The newly released trailer for Howard's adaptation of In the Heart of the Sea makes it appear that he has brought the book to life in stunning detail. The movie stars Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, Ben Wishah, and Brendan Gleeson. While it's not a traditional horror film, this is one of those "horrors of humanity" movies that the Horror Honeys can't wait for...

In the Heart of the Sea is coming to theaters March 15, 2015!
