The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and 'Gone Girl'

Honey Buzz ~ Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and 'Gone Girl'

Everyone knows that the secret to a good horror/thriller/suspense film is hidden in more than the direction, the acting and the look of the film, it's in the score and how the score sets the mood and ties the whole film together - what would Halloween be without that distinctive piano theme? What would Psycho be without those shrieking violins? Blah, that's what.

The score of a film tells us how to feel about a scene, a particular character, a relationship, a plot device - and really, since Nine Inch Nails has been informing my view of the world for so many years, there might be a reason why I'm so drawn to the feel of Gone Girl.

For upcoming thriller/suspense film Gone Girl, instead of a crazily recognizable theme, David Fincher has enlisted Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to score the upcoming thriller. I wasn't able to embed the track for obvious reasons, BUT you can hear a preview of the score on the  Nine Inch Nails website and it's BEAUTIFULLY unsettling without being overpowering.  The song is called "The Way He Looks at Me."

This is Reznor and Ross' third film-score collaboration, all three films having been directed by David Fincher. They previously worked on 2010's The Social Network and 2011's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, with their score for the former earning them an Oscar.

Gone Girl stars Ben AffleckRosamund PikeNeil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry. The film is based on the 2012 best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn, who also wrote the film's screenplay.

Gone Girl hits theatres October 3rd.
