The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ Stephen King's 11/22/63 Coming to Hulu!

Honey Buzz ~ Stephen King's 11/22/63 Coming to Hulu!

These days, it takes a special book for me to sit down and blow through it in a weekend. In addition to Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl, the last novel I completely absorbed was Stephen King's 11/22/63. More sci-fi than horror, King's story was a brilliantly researched combination of American history, time travel, and romance. And now, it looks like one of the modern masters of the sci-fi adaptation, JJ Abrams, is bringing 11/22/63 to your TV! (Or computer, in this case).

According to Deadline, Abrams's Bad Robot production company has officially landed a 9-episode series order with Hulu. The show would be considered a "series event:" that means that like American Horror Story, the first season would be close-ended and tell a complete story. However, both Abrams, Hulu, and King are open to more seasons, which would revolve around other historical events.

For those who haven't read 11/22/63, it tells the story of a Jake Epping, who discovers a portal that allows time travel to a specific date: September 9, 1958 at 11:58am. Jake makes a promise that he will go back in time and live in the past until 1963, when he must then prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy. But what will he do when it becomes clear his actions in the past have dire and long-lasting consequences, and the past might not want to be changed?

Personally, I'm excited at the prospect of seeing 11/22/63 brought to life. I might even spring for Hulu Plus for this one... What do you think? ~RH
