The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ Motivational Growth Blu Ray/DVD Release

Honey Buzz ~ Motivational Growth Blu Ray/DVD Release

It's not very often that I get to have horror hipster moments, but I totally saw Motivational Growth before it was really a thing. Indie horror is a very special genre, and I'm extremely privileged to be able to see these films at festivals and conventions. That being said, I've also sat through a lot of shit, but that film about the guy with a penis for a nose just might not have been for me.

HOWEVER - it's rare that I find an indie film that I keep coming back to, and keep watching, and keep finding utterly brilliant and hilarious.Motivational Growth is one of those indie films. I had such a freak out about it at the convention I saw it at, that the director, Don Thacker, (we've since become buddies - check out my interview with him here, or the Honey Radio podcast with Don HERE) gave me the Blu Ray copy straight out of the player, and it's since been signed by Jeffrey Combs. I'm nerd level about this film.

Since it spent such a LONG time making the festival rounds, it's awesome to see this film finally making its official release date. Featuring a mind blowing soundtrack (no seriously), incredible graphics (you'll want to play this game), special FX that will make you go OMG (no seriously), and a moment that has me shouting NO NO NO NO NO every single time I see it.

Ian Foliver (Adrian DiGiovanni), a depressed and reclusive man in his 30s, finds himself taking advice from a growth in his bathroom after a failed suicide attempt. The Mold (‘ReAnimator’ star Jeffrey Combs), a smooth talking fungus born of the filth in a neglected bathroom, works to help Ian clean himself up and remodel his lifestyle. The Mold has big plans for Ian, but they may not be as innocent as they seem. A labyrinthine-narrative follows, full of colorfully-drawn characters and gruesome body horror. “The Mold knows, Jack. The Mold knows.”

Motivational Growth hits VOD worldwide on September 30th (via Devolver Films and Indiecan Entertainment in Canada), Blu-Ray & DVD in Canada on the same date, and DVD in the US the following week (via Parade Deck Films), on October 7th.
