The Horror Honeys: Honey Buzz ~ Kevin Smith is spending his TUSK money on Clerks III

Honey Buzz ~ Kevin Smith is spending his TUSK money on Clerks III

Booga Booga!
I made a horror film so I can do what I want!
Once upon a time, directors making horror films did it because they were passionate about the genre. They had grown up with it, lived and breathed it and were finally bringing their own passion to the genre with their own hands and make a name for themselves by paying homage to the films that had seeded their original need to create that bloody amazing art. The same is true for some horror actors, especially those that have grown up within the genre and have stayed true to their bloody roots.

Then there are the directors and actors who have figured out that horror is a great way to make a buck. Rabid genre fans will always line up for the newest scare. Actors can age gracefully within the horror genre, with no real pressure to conform to sneaky standards, and then there's the fanbase that will be unflinchingly loyal to a character, a franchise, and the genre itself.

This is where Kevin Smith comes in along with his body horror film, TUSK. According to EmpireOnline, it's official, Kevin Smith has finally gotten all the money he needs to fund his project to end all passion projects - Clerks 3. How did he get this money? From loyal horror fans who flocked to the theatres in support of the genre they love.  YOU PAID FOR THIS.
“A year and change ago I was desperately trying to get Clerks III made for the 20th anniversary and that desperation — I must have reeked of it because I couldn't f–king find money and shit,” Smith says. “But it was Tusk, people going ‘Holy f–k, what else do you have?’ and I was like Clerks III and they're like ‘done'. So, everybody that's like, ‘He failed, he failed,’ I'm like ‘Thank you, I failed into doing Clerks III"

Did I just scream DOUCHEBAG at my computer screen?
Yes. Yes, I did.

Way to use the horror genre to fund a film that a few back-patting yes-men and bro's will be sure to check out.
