Honey Buzz ~ Doctor Strange Has Release Date, But no Doctor!

While some of us Honeys are huge comic book fans, we are all especially interested in one of Marvel's upcoming projects, Doctor Strange: first and foremost because it's directed by Honey Favorite Scott Derrickson! The irritating thing thus far, however, has been Marvel's obsessive cone of silence. Details on Doctor Strange have been minimal at best and frustratingly nonexistent at worst. But now we have a release date! So that's something, right?

RIGHT?

ScreenDaily reported today that Marvel has officially slated Doctor Strange for a July 8, 2016 release with a tentative May, 2015 start in the UK. Which is great! Except for one small bit of missing info...

WHO THE HELL IS PLAYING DOCTOR STRANGE?!?

The rumor mill has been lousy with casting choices, from Johnny Depp (no, please) to Benedict Cumberbatch (who sadly, all but shot the possibility down at SDCC) to Joaquin Phoenix, who seemed the most likely candidate until recently. Scuttlebutt on the interwebs has been buzzing with the possibility that Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston was considered for the role. The fact that he's a young whippersnapper aside, I think this would actually be a fabulous choice.

Toss a little gray in that mane? Totally.

The problem? This comes on the heels of the news that Huston has been cast in the title role of the Ben-Hur remake. So where does that leave us? Pretty much where we were before. With an awesome director, a release date, and no casting news. We'll just have to keep our ears to the net for any developments on this one!

Please don't be Johnny Depp. Please don't be Johnny Depp. Please don't be Johnny Depp.
