Honey Buzz: The Babadook - new clip!

The Babadook - 2014

As a woman, I can't deny that horror films that feature children are some of the scariest things out there. Firstly because they're usually an unintentional form of birth control - who wants a tiny Satan running around their house??? And secondly because if they're not the agents of evil, they're the focus of the evil intent in the story, which makes all of us nervous and stressed out and jumpier than normal. We HURT for the child, we're in PAIN for the child, and we identify with the desperation of a parent doing whatever it takes to protect their precious burden - I haven't been stressed out by a horror movie child since The Sixth Sense (no judgement, you bastards) until now.
The story [unedited from IMDb]: A single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son's fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.

What's in the clip: Watch as one of my personal favorite Auntie-duties, storytime, turns from a sweet pre-bedtime activity into something really really unsettling...

If you caught yourself saying "Ba-ba-ba-dook-dook-dook" out loud to yourself while watching this clip, we can totally be friends.

The Babadook has already been released in Australia, France, Poland and the Netherlands (UNFAIR), but has been making the film festival rounds in the US and will be stopping off at Elijah Wood's Spectrefest for it's L.A. premiere on Halloween night.

The US release date for The Babadook isn't slated until the end of November, but it definitely looks like it's something worth waiting for, and I know we're bloodydamn excited.
