The Horror Honeys: February Honey Jam - 'Closer'

February Honey Jam - 'Closer'

Twisted Love Song Edition

I want to fuck you like an animal
I want to feel you from the inside
I want to fuck you like an animal
My whole existence is flawed
You get me closer to god

Through every forest, above the trees
Within my stomach, scraped off my knees
I drink the honey inside your hive
You are the reason I stay alive

The definition of grunge in the early 90's, Nine Inch Nails ripped out our guts, reminded us what they looked like, and then shoved them back into our mouths because we couldn't get enough - wait, was that just me in the early 90's?  When "Closer" was released in 1994 on The Downward Spiral, I didn't know what to do with myself, I was mesmerized, drawn, consumed - and holy hell was I turned on.  Who was this magical, delicious, mental, dark industrial god and where could I get one of my own?

Why is this a "twisted love song"?  "Closer" is all about the all-consuming relationships we have and the animalistic side of them.  Everyone wants to feel like this in a relationship.  The longing, the wanting, the cellular-based yearning and animalistic consumption of your partner. Sigh.
Wait, where are you going?  ~HH
