The Horror Honeys: Monday Evening Honey Jam ~ 'The Beast'

Monday Evening Honey Jam ~ 'The Beast'

I suggest that you be grateful
That it's your blood on my hands
And assume yourself weaker, the fall of man
And look out for the beast
Tonight he lies with me

This song by Laura Marling from her album A Creature I Don't Know is all metaphor, but when I listen to it, I hear it as a broken love song between a woman and a werewolf; something along the lines of An American Werewolf in London. Its so beautiful and angry and full of the tension of a love coming to a bitter and violent end, that it seems tailor-made for just such a situation. Plus, Laura Marling is just frigging awesome and if you don't already know her, you should. Expect another Horror Jam from her sometime in the near future. In the meantime, rock out werewolf style and enjoy your Monday Poppets! ~RH
